Massive fabrication shop has a multitude of the value-added process with welding, cutting, forming and machining. To perform this manufacturing process, both human labour and automation are commonly considered. The end products or common types of metalworking such as metal stamping, casting, forging, and machining can be similar in shape and function. These processes are not classified as fabrication. Metal fabrication is used in all aspects of our lives from the buildings we live and work into the everyday objects we use, but let’s be honest, most of us don’t even give it a second thought.

1. This might not be a logical belief, but the traditional procedure of welding is followed for thousands of years. Coming across the nail-biting fact, that the earlier incarnation of metal fabrication was backed to 3,500 BC. The welding tools and image have been spotted in ancient Egyptian tombs
2. There are two essential welding methods: wet and dry. These methods can be flexibly performed underwater. In 1990, the deepest dry welding was performed underwater, registering a record of 1075 feet and 328 meters
3. In 1969, when Cosmonauts tried to weld metals outside our planet, it provided the groundwork for experiments and technology that made it possible for humans to build a space station later on
4. When two pieces of metal meet each other in space, they become an individual unit. Due to the composition of earth’s atmosphere, a layer of oxidised material fits in between the metal pieces
5. One of the deepest ever underwater welds was around 3,500 meters. This carried out during the laying of a long-distance pipeline stretching from the region Oman to India
6. In 1889, the Eiffel Tower was built with 18,038 large pieces of wrought iron. All of which had to be fabricated and held in place with over 2 million rivets.
7. General Motors is credited with the installation of the first industrial robot in history. They brought it out at a plant back in 1961. With over two tons in weight and with a featured motorised arm, The Unimate could spot weld. It followed step-by-step commands that were stored on a magnetic drum. This was a breakthrough in the metal fabrication industry.
8. More than half of the products that we use in our daily lives need metal fabrication or some form welding operations. laptops, furniture, cell phones, cutlery, vehicles, gates, table-tops, aircraft and many more are there every day, around us.
9. We all know Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest edifice in the world. But we do not see that it uses over half the amount of steel that is contained within the Empire State Building, yet at 828 meters it’s 385 meters taller than thelatter.
